- In 1892, Mr. Chang Bishi (1841-1916), a patriotic overseas Chinese as well as a rich bureaucratic merchant, invested 3 million taels of silver and established Changyu Pioneer Wine Company, the very first winemaking enterprise of China, opening up a new era for industrialized wine production in China. This event has been recorded as one of the four major events of 1892 on the bronze path of China Millennium Monument in Beijing.
