Kung Hsiang-his inscribed a poem: with prosperous business and great reputation

On the 40th anniversary celebration of Changyu Company, General Chang Hsueh-Liang inscribed “Gui Dun Yi Mou”,~~~ and ~~~financial minister Song Ziwen inscribed “Fang Lie Chi Yu”, while Kung Hsiang-hsi, the minister of industry of the Republic of China, composed a poem with four characters each line:

Good wine comes from the west.

It has huge potential to make money of tens of billions.

Philosophers like it, with candle lights.

It is located in Shandong, where good wines are made.

It was a hard journey of over 40 years.

With prosperous business and great reputation,

A glass of wine brings relaxation.

With unremitting efforts, we have made such achievements.

This poem with four characters each line, citing the classics and featuring literacy, stated from the origin of wine to the pioneering process of Cheong Fatt Tze, and praised Changyu wine “with prosperous business and great reputation”. It is probably the only one published poem of Kung Hsiang-hsi, whose calligraphy was also rare.  Kung Hsiang-his served as minister for industry and commerce of Government of the Republic China in 1928, and as the industry minister in December 1930, he expressed that he will abide by “People's Livelihood and national business plan” of Sun Yat-sen, and he presided the formulation of Factory Act, Corporation law, Trademark Act and Maritime law and other economic laws and regulations. Changyu Company is a model of rejuvenating the country by industry, therefore, Kung Hsiang-hsi was glad to inscribe poem for Changyu, which may be inseparable to “People's Livelihood and national business plan” that he abided by.
