As a leading character in Chinese wine industry, Li Demei was once rated as one of the “Top 10 Most Influential Wine Consultants in the World” by foreign media and now serves as wine-making consultant in 7 Chinese chateaux including Helan Qingxue Vineyard, Tiansai Vineyards, Chateau Zhong Fei and Chateau Leirenshou. He, as the professor of Beijing University of Agriculture, has many different roles, such as judge and columnist for some sommelier competitions and wine competitions; he also converts between these roles with ease, travels around China without a stop and attracts more powers with his own influence to join the team of promoting progress of Chinese wine.

When talking about these big domestic wine brands such as Changyu and Great Wall, he seriously “overcorrected”: “When hearing about these big brands, people will think that they are the synonym of producing general wines, in fact, there are also independent boutique chateaux inside these big brands, for example, Changyu possesses 6 chateaux all over China. They have not only scaled mass production wineries, but also boutique chateaux, so it is completely unnecessary to complain about these big domestic brands. I think this is an unfair criticism for them, in fact, it is them who take lead of the whole Chinese wine industry till today because in terms of output, the wine output of the whole China is more than one million tons,  in which they account for the majority, without them, can the output of Chinese wine still rank 6th in the world?”
