On July 24, 1992, Mr. Jiang Zemin visited and inspected Changyu before the centenary celebrations of Changyu, and inscribed personally “Just like azure water is meaningful, aroma comes only from brewing”. “Azure water” comes from Notes on poets and poetry of azure water by Yan Yu,and refers to the color of water. Mencius once said “azure water is clear”, so “Azure” means the color of water, with the cheerful meaning and a realm of endless meaning. Later on it was extended in culture. Brewing refers to wine making, and also means the process of wine making. So Mr. Jiang Zemin not only affirmed Changyu had abundant enterprise culture and first-class products, but also praised the theory of business of quality first of Changyu.
