Kilikanoon has been shortlisted for Australian Wine Producer of the Year after receiving the coveted Shiraz Trophy for the 2014 Oracle Shiraz at this year’s International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC).

This is the second time Kilikanoon’s Oracle has been awarded the best Shiraz in the world at this show, the other for the 2001 vintage. The 2005 vintage was also rated best Shiraz in the World at the International Wine Challenge. These results place Oracle in rare air as a consistently outstanding Australian Shiraz.

Based on statistical analysis, Australian Wine Producer of the Year is awarded to the producer with the best set of results. Judges take into consideration the amount of wines entered, number of Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals achieved, and overall average scores; resulting in a shortlist of a maximum of six top performers in each country.

“Spanning all regions from North and South America through Europe, Africa, Asia and Australia, the awards are a celebration of excellence in wines worldwide” - IWSC

All 14 Kilikanoon wines entered into the IWSC were awarded medals, including Gold for the 2016 vintages of Mort’s Reserve Riesling and Killerman’s Run GSM.

Australian Wine Producer of the Year is announced during the awards evening at Guildhall in the City of London on Wednesday 14 November.

Proprietor and Chief Winemaker Kevin Mitchell will be attending the evening where the 2014 Oracle Shiraz will be served during the banquet.

Kilikanoon has previously been rated as Australia’s Winery of the Year by James Halliday in 2013; and Germany’s Mundus Vini in 2010,N 2017 and 2018. Few wineries have been more consistently recognised for excellence.
