Yantai areas
Yantai, as the cradle of Chinese wine industry, has a history of over a hundred years of wine grape cultivation, and is a traditional Chinese high quality wine producing area.
Yantai is located near 37.5 degrees of north latitude, at the same latitude as the famous French wine region of Bordeaux. It belongs to humid warm temperate monsoon climate, but influenced by the ocean. Compared with inland at same latitude, Yantai has a mild climate, without hot summers and cold winters, conducive to the growth of wine grapes. In addtion, a unique oceanic climate endows local wine with an elegant and exquisite style.
There are largely hilly mountains within Yantai, and the soil is the typical brown forest soil, relatively coarse, with gravel and good permeability. They are mainly distributed in gentle slopes, which is beneficial to drainage. The minerals and organic matter content in the soil are rich, providing good conditions for high quality wine grape.
The main grape varieties in the vineyard are: Cabernet Gernischt, Cabernet sauvignon, Italian Riesling, Chardonnay, Ugni Blanc, etc. They are mainly distributed in Penglai, Longkou and laizhou counties and cities. The white wine produced here has exquisite and elegant aroma of apple, lemon, etc. The red wine produced here has aroma of black berries, pepper, etc, with elegant and fruity flavor.
