Theyear1892witnessed the beginning ofChangyu’sfoundingperiod which lasted22 years,forit was notuntil1914,whenits first batch of wine had beenin brewingfor 18 years and the western wineconnoisseursevaluated itas“pure in color and mellow in taste”,that Changyu Pioneer Wine Company applied officially for registrationand was established.That first batch of wine products was put on the markets at home and abroad.Then, ChangyuPioneer Wine Companycame into being as a combined wine enterprise incorporating its vineyards, winery, glass bottle factory, and marketing network, with realpropertyreaching 2 millionyuanand annual wine production capacity of 200-odd tons.After its first wine products out on the markets, Changyu adopted themarketing strategy of promoting sales towards Southeast Asia supported by product publicity in China. It was before long when Changyu wines found outlets in those areaswhere overseas Chinese were concentrated in Southeast Asia, North America, and Central and South America. Changyu’s sellinginfluencedsome Russian businessmen,who also placed many orders for Changyu wines.Inthat period, Changyu’s highest annual sales reached more than 60thousandcases.
